We build bi-fold doors in our own workshop to the very highest of standards as with our timber windows and other joinery products. Each set is individually customised using your own choice of timber, ironmongery and finish. Full manufacturing drawings are produced to your exact dimensions for final approval.

These timber bi-fold door systems are suited to both existing and new builds and can be used in various applications - for internal space conversion of two adjacent areas or for bringing the outside in. In commercial spheres they can be used to welcome clients through a wide storefront or to bring pavement café culture to your restaurant. Sliding folding doors can also be incorporated into conservatory designs blurring the boundary between home and garden.

Ironmongery - Operating Gear

We use the very best components for our sliding folding doors which incorporate a smooth rolling system and high security lock mechanisms. Fully adjustable and available in a range of options and finishes it will cope with various weight capacities and in theory can be fitted to an opening of up to 16 metres wide! The door sets can either open inwards or outwards with configurations to match your own specifications combined with security and weathering capabilities second to none. We can even incorporate aluminium sills to comply with DDA access requirements. (Disability Discrimination Act).

Bi-Fold Door Timber Type

Clifton Joinery uses responsibly sourced timber for our bi-fold doors, machined and detailed in our own workshop. Idigbo is very often used as our standard timber. It has excellent durability and lifespan and takes either a clear or painted finish extremely well.  Many other species such as Red Grandis, Accoya and oak are also available.

Ironmongery

Handles are selected by the customer. There’s a vast range of styles and finishes available. We can also source ironmongery to match existing handles or styles within a property. Click here to see our standard range of furniture.

Timber Finish

We offer a range of finishes to suit the location, timber and your preferences. When a painted finish is required, we use three coats of micro-porous paint – any colour, to your taste. Paint finishes are spray applied in the factory. We also offer a range of stains to protect and enhance. We can prepare samples for you whenever needed.

Glass Options and Specifications

A range of double glazed units can be accommodated. We always use softcoat low e glass units filled with argon gas for improved thermal efficiency and we fit various other options to improve “u” values or to ensure greater security, laminated glass for example. Etched or patterned glass can also be incorporated and we don’t forget your pets – we can even make special openings for cat flaps in the doors or glazing units.

Quality Craftsmanship 

Your bi-fold doors are machined, joined, finished and glazed in our workshop using the very latest in timber machining technology. The whole process is under our control and your bi-fold doors leaves our workshop fully factory finished, wrapped and ready for installation.

Customisable Joinery

Where practical, we can alter stile or rail widths, add mid-rails and other features to your own design or to maximise glass area, finish and glass specifications to suit you and a range of ironmongery options.
