Clifton Joinery are committed to green policies and the implementation of proactive measures to help protect and sustain the environment for future generations.
We recognise the impact of our operations on the environment and aim to be an increasingly efficient. We strive to minimise any detrimental effects as a result of our operations. Some examples of how we achieve this are detailed below.
We specialise in using timbers selected for their qualities of durability, strength and performance; giving our products their timeless and classic appeal. Building in timber carries important environmental responsibilities, and when properly managed is far preferable to the use of aluminium or petrochemical-based plastics.
Clifton Joinery supports the responsible management of the world’s timber resources by promoting the trade in timber and timber products from well-managed forests and by the use of sustainable or innovative wood such as Red Grandis and Accoya.
Using in-house developed software, cutting edge timber machining technology and our experience of working with hardwoods for over two decades, we have optimised the utilisation of timber sections reducing the amount of offcuts and rejects and therefore the amount of waste generated by the joinery process. All primers, paints and stains are water-bourne and micro-porous allowing the timber to breathe naturally. Because our finishes are water based they release water rather than solvents in the atmosphere making it more suitable for our environment.
Recycling is also a key part of our waste management policy. It is important to recycle as it takes considerably less energy to recycle an existing product than to source or make one from new. Just some examples of this policy are our timber shavings and off cuts are used to generate heat for our paint plant and factory, over spray from our automated spray plant is filtered and re-used and wherever possible we recycle product packaging, waste paper and printer cartridges. In addition, this website is powered by "Green Hosting" by 1&1 that uses wind, water and solar power in accordance with the Renewable Energy Certification System (RECS).
We look to conserve natural resources through the responsible use of energy, water and materials including reducing carbon emissions by the use of logistics for our delivery and customer facing fleet.
We can all contribute to making a cleaner and safer environment and ensure environmental issues remain a focal point and receive proper attention.
Clifton Joinery complies with relevant environmental legislation and takes a proactive approach to any future requirements and obligations.
