Danes Hill School, Oxshott

"The Robin Parfitt Building"

A new facility including Food Technology, Design Technology, Art and Pottery Rooms also incorporating ten new classrooms.

Danes Hill is a large co-educational preparatory school in Surrey, successful, well known and very well regarded.

Our association with the school goes back some years and in early Autumn 2008 we were delighted to be approached by the bursar, William House, to consider supplying furniture and fittings for this prestigious new-build project. Delivery was to be Easter 2009.

After a successful competitive tender procedure we worked closely with Architect Charles Clutterbuck. Our part in the early stages involved helping to interpret the school’s requirements and creating scale CAD drawings as needed to illustrate how our furniture would fit into the overall plan.

Working up to the installation stage we then liaised closely with the builders, Cobalt Green Construction Ltd. We dealt with all the usual issues of time constraints, overlapping of trades, integrating services and the whole project came in on budget. The result is superb!

We provided the full range of furniture, fixed storage and benching, Belfast sinks, loose tables, chairs, stools, woodwork benches, filing cabinets, shelving systems, corridor lockers, notice boards and art room work tables. We also supplied and installed loose appliances, built-in ovens & hobs and stainless steel sinks.

In the Art Rooms we installed “Velstone” acrylic polymer worktops. In Food Technology it was Post Formed Laminate and in Design Technology, traditional solid Beech tops.

The overall effect of the building is quite brilliant and a compliment to the architect. It is bright, airy, environmentally efficient and very modern. However it is most importantly a place where children want to learn. They, and the staff, are delighted by it and we are proud to have been involved.
