From a single window to a multiple order, each and every window is handmade in our workshops where we combine the very best of traditional designs with the latest standards of weatherproofing, thermal performance and security. We specialise in projects for listed buildings and buildings within conservation areas as we are able to match existing details and therefore conform to local planning guidelines.
All our products are low-maintenance & designed to enhance your property. Windows can be supplied to meet any required finish and all work is manufactured to appropriate British Standards. In addition, they are individually customised with your choice of timber, ironmongery and finish and full manufacturing drawings are produced to your exact dimensions for approval.
Clifton Joinery is one of only 15 joineries in the country (out of 4400) which has been awarded a Kitemark Licence from the BSI for timber windows, assuring our customers of high quality and long term reliability.
Box Sash Windows
Our box sash windows are made to the highest standards, using primarily solid, top quality hardwoods and customised to suit your design and specification precisely. They are fully draught-proofed, manufactured using traditional wedged mortice and tenon joints and finished with three coats of microporous paint, to your colour choice. A full range of options is available:
Spiral Balance Sash Windows
As a cheaper alternative to traditional weights, cords and pulleys, we can offer spiral balances (sometimes called spring balances). These balances can offer up to 70-75% weight assistance, but must be fitted with travel stops. Other details as Box Sash Windows.
Casement Windows
Made to the highest standards, primarily of top quality hardwoods (incl. European Oak) and customised to your designs and specification. They are fully draught-proofed, manufactured using traditional wedged mortice and tenon joints and finished with three coats of microporous paint, to your colour choice. A full range of options is available:
Ironmongery
Our joinery is of exceptional standard so we only use the very highest quality ironmongery to complement it. We can supply a variety of finishes and styles to suit your requirements or to match existing ironmongery.
Timber - Hardwood or European Oak
We use solid timber, machined and detailed in our own workshop. Idigbo is used as our standard timber when a painted finish is required. It has excellent durability and lifespan and takes our microporous paint extremely well. When a clear finish is required, various timbers are available, although Prime European Oak is extremely popular, chosen for its superior durability over the cheaper American White Oak. Many other timbers are also available, including innovative timbers such as Accoya. We have a Chain of Custody (CoC) Licence and can prove the source and therefore the sustainability of FSC timber used in manufacture.
Timber Finish
We offer a range of finishes to suit the location, timber and your preferences. When a painted finish is required, we use three coats of micro-porous paint – any colour, to your taste. Paint finishes are spray applied in the factory. We use top quality coatings from Teknos which allow us to offer up to a 10 year guarantee on the life of the finish. We also offer a range of oils and varnishes to protect and enhance. We can prepare samples for you whenever needed.
Glass Options and Specifications
A range of double glazed units can be accommodated, including slimlite double glazing. We always use softcoat low e glass units filled with argon gas for improved thermal efficiency and we fit various other options to improve “u” values or to ensure greater security, laminated glass for example. Etched or patterned glass can also be incorporated, and we don’t forget your pets – we even make special openings for cat flaps.
Quality Craftsmanship
Your windows are machined, joined, finished and glazed in our workshop by our own highly skilled and qualified craftsmen. Traditionally constructed using wedged mortice and tenon joints, the whole process is under our control and the end product leaves our workshop fully factory finished, wrapped and ready for installation.
Fully Customisable
At Clifton Joinery we believe in fully customisable products. We can alter stile or rail widths to your own design or to maximise glass area, finish and glass specifications to suit you and ironmongery options from a vast range of suppliers. Our experience and expertise delivers the quality of product for which Clifton Joinery is reknowned whilst still giving you complete control and the ability to fully personalise your joinery.
